Final Design - Coogee Community Centre

My design is based on a puzzle, where different pieces make up a whole and final puzzle. I see the Coogee Community as a family, and with every household family not one is the same. In my analysis I noted that the beach, oval and shops, were the hot spots of Coogee. Therefore I took each as a separate element (puzzle piece), as each of those three places
attracts different people. The three main buildings in my design signify the three main hotspots at Coogee. Each is slightly different in material, size and sunlight. My three main buildings are joined by glass; this is the glue holding the buildings together (family/
parents, community/people).

Coogee Community Centre - Submission 1

Insertion - Contours (Plan/Section) Reciprocity - Day/Night use of area
Materiality - Different types of trees
Reciprocity - Importance of the area (beach - oval - commercial shops)
Infrastructure - Parking
Threshold - Weak vs Strong Threshold
Threshold - Footpath
Reciprocity - Natural - Semi natural - Man made

Reciprocity - Public use of area

Site analysis - Walked around the site and took down my interest levels while walking around. The thicker the lines get the more time i spent there also. Along the oval was pretty interesting only in certain bits were the game could be seen. Along the beach was interesting but very constant as it was the same thing over and over again.
Site analysis - Showing the hot spots, main areas being the beach, oval and commercial shops

My general thoughts for the concept model were that the site is pretty dull and boring, so wanted to create something that would stand out instead of blend in with the environment but at the same time bring in the beach culture as the beach in my opinion is the most important feature of coogee.

Project 2 - Room and Narrative

Project 3 - Art Gallery in Newtown

The main ideas behind the art gallery were symmetry and the ramp. The ramp was seen as the main room, a device to transport you from one level to another but also a viewing place for the art work.
